Army to exercise in the capital
(BangkokPost.com) - First army region commander Prayuth Chan-ocha said Tuesday troops will be conducting exercises in Bangkok for several days, and the public should not panic over military movements.
Lt-Gen Prayuth said troops will be involved in "a routine exercise" in the capital to ensure military preparedness. As usual, some wondered if it was an excuse for a coup.
"Every time there is a exercise, I would ask permission from my commander, who is the army chief," he said. "Once he permits it, I can order an exercise."
He also talked about the upcoming military reshuffle, saying that Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej assured him that there will be no government interference.
He added that so far, no politicians have tried to interfere in the army's business.

Army to relocate troops next week
(BangkokPost.com) - The Army will be moving troops between Bangkok and Lop Buri from Monday to Friday, spokesmen said on Saturday, and the public should not be concerned at seeing tanks on the streets.
The routes which the troops are expected to take include Rama VI, Vibhavadi Rangsit Highway and Phahon Yothin Road.
The army said it apologises for any inconvenience this may cause, although the chief problem likely will be rumours and concern that a coup is under way or being planned.
