Prachuap Khiri Khan has highest road deaths so far

(BangkokPost.com) – On the second day of the seven-day campaign to reduce road accidents during the Songkran festival, figures have already exceeded last year’s.

So far, 104 deaths have been reported with the highest number of deaths reported in Prachuab Kirikhan province where 7 were killed. Nakhon Ratchasima came in second place with Bangkok in at third. The main reasons for the deaths were mostly the result of drunk driving.

Altogether 1,220 accidents have been reported since April 11 while 1,411 people have been injured.

Authorities are hoping that anti-drunk driving campaigns will lower the death toll during the Songkran holidays when compared to last year’s figures
