Chinese Tourist Bus Overturns and Slides Down Road in Thailand
The bus was carrying 31 Chinese tourists back to their hotel in Patong. Two people were killed and four people were seriously injured as a result of the crash. The exact cause of the accident is currently under investigation.

I know this accident spot very well.
What you don't know / can't see, is that this is at the foot of the Patong mountain road, a notorious black spot, if ever I've known one. Its similar on the Southern side where they cross over Kata hill in Chalong.
Paton hill is SO steep, that they have banned buses from using it at one point, due to the number of accidents. The part you see here, is just after they've come down the Patong side, having just done a hard right, hairpin left, and then a left / right choice whereby you can goto Sinamyen, or to the beach. He went to Sainamyen (almost).
They did plan to build a tunnel through the mountain, but the locals scuppered the idea, knowing fat cat local politicians would cream the poor countries money right off the top of the project.
I can tell you how it will all end - the buses brakes will have been deemded to have failed - not through lack of maintenance I might add, as that would see nobody paid out, and locals sent to jail, but due to simple failure is all.
The buses here are so poorly maintained, that I once saw one tracking down the highway at an angle (it must have had a smash already), and they constantly belch out smoke that would make China proud.

Thai ved ikke hvad det vil sige at tage ansvar, derfor flygter de altid fra vanskelige situationer, enten mentalt - hvis man f.eks. kræver et ja ell. nej svar af dem - eller fysisk som her.
Du får et stramt seletøj på, der spændes fast på kroppen omkring arme og ben og om livet, og du får en hjelm på. Mens du således er sikret i hoved og numse, gælder der helt andre sikkerhedstiltag for monkeyboy'en. Han sidder blot på linerne uden nogen form for sikkerhed ud over hans egen adræthed.
