Two Russians, enjoying drinks and swimming, early on Saturday morning were found on the beach, shot dead, in their deck chairs. police were on the scene, after reports of gunshots, headed by Police officer Police Major General Seatha Marloen from Dongtan sub police station Banglamung Chonburi. Upon arrival they discovered the bodies of two Russian tourists 25, and 30 years of age slumped in their chairs, apparently the victims of a ‘contract style ‘ killing, opposite Ananathaya Resort hotel.. All personal effects were intact, and, police reportedly have the slaying recorded on the newly installed CCTV system. The victims, Miss Svirkova Liubov aged 25 and her friend Miss Tsimfer Tatiana aged 30, both Russian nationals, were in their beach clothes, and had been relaxing on the beach in the early morning. Both were shot with a 9mm pistol. Miss Liubov received 4 bullets, one in her left arm and three in her abdomen, Miss Tatiana received one in the back, both were shot at close range. Items on their table included a mobile phone, a pack of cigarettes, and two small bottles of Thai whisky; footprints showed the gunman had been wearing combat type shoes. A nearby security guard who heard the gunshots, and witnessed the gunman escaping on a motorcycle, had earlier seen the ladies, at 3am, on their journey from the Dragon Beach hotel, to the beach some 500 meters away. The ladies regularly visited the beach at this time,He was first on the scene after hearing the first shot and some screaming for help, the further four shots rang out as he ran towards the scene, the assailant was described as young, although, no further details were given. A second witness said he saw the gunman driving away at speed in the direction of Soi Chiyapruk. The receptionist of the Dragon Beach hotel remembers the two victims as part of a group, who arrived on 16/2/07. They were due to depart on 3/03/07. Police Lieutenant General Suthin Thrabpueng said he was shocked at the crime as there is no motive or theft, and is eager to bring this criminal to book, as this is very serious case, and damaging for tourism, as this is not the first time tourists have been discovered murdered on the beach. bamsen |

/Ding-Dong |

Hej dsd, ![]() Tak for info! Hmm.

IT IS NICE TO BE IMPORTANT, BUT MORE IMPORTANT TO BE NICE!!!!!

Tour guide heads murder suspects in Pattaya Russian slaying investigation A tour guide would now appear to be the latest suspect in the prominent ongoing murder investigation into the death of the two Russian female tourists according to the Commissioner of the Provincial Police Bureau 2, Police Lieutenant General Assawin Kwanmuang. The case has for once roused the local authorities to action; like never before. And with good reason as Pattaya’s reputation becomes more infamous by the moment. However, there is still no auxiliary support from the Thai Marines and neighbouring police forces as was promised after the previous assault on Russian tourists in Pattaya. Both the Thai Tourist Authority and the local police are collaborating at the highest level to solve the murder case and be seen to be taking firm steps to reduce the currently high crime rate, especially as it applies to foreign tourists. Current moves include emergency meetings, the first at Anunthaya Hotel, opposite the crime scene on Jomtien Beach where Tatiana Tsimfer, 30, and Liubov Svirkova, 25, were so callously gunned down early on Saturday morning by an unknown assailant. Both Pattaya Mayor, Mr. Niran Wattanasartsathorn and the Governor of Chonburi, Mr. Pracha Taerat have recently voiced their concern over Pattaya’s high crime rates and have vowed to crack down on the currently high crime rates in the city. In immediate response to the slaying, there has been an unprecedented deployment of Thai police officers in an attempt to solve this case as soon as possible. Approximately 50 officers were split into 12 working groups, with each being assigned the duty of investigating a particular aspect of this case. This has included searching for witnesses, gathering information from tourist locations (such as Walking Street), working with the Russian Embassy, investigating the crime scene more thoroughly and examining hotel occupancy records. A reward of 100,000 Baht (about US$3,000) has also been offered for the speedy capture of the gunman. A male tour guide now heads the list of suspects. He had apparently escorted the two Russians on nightly visits to local entertainment venues. The guide was identified from CCTV video footage from cameras, which have recently been erected to provide security on popular Jomtien Beach, but it would appear from what has currently been seen that the CCTVs’ zoom facilities leave something to be desired. The tourist guide has since disappeared. Other suspects in the case include two Russian males pictured in a group photograph with the two slain victims. These two males were later questioned by police and found to be in possession of marijuana, but they denied being the males in the holiday snaps. The police and also Tourism Authority of Thailand Pattaya Director, Chaiwat Charoensuk, have apparently dropped the assertion that the two young women were involved in prostitution. Lt.Gen. Assawin said Sunday that the women worked as telephone operators in Russia and were visiting Thailand for the first time with a tour group. They had noting to do with illegal trans-national prostitution, according to personal records shown by a representative from the Russian Embassy. Likewise, Mr Chaiwat, as reported by the Bangkok Post, said ''I don't think they were prostitutes because they both had decent jobs in Russia and it was their first time to Pattaya''. Robbery was also not deemed to be a motive as the victims' belongings were left untouched. The whole incident has aroused a great deal of controversy among local foreign residents and tourists, some of whom are privy to the reality of life in what is euphemistically called “Fun City”. The complaints include Thai chauvinism, a callous attitude among Thais towards the fate of any farang (Western foreigners), and frank disbelief concerning the intelligence of foreign tourists, especially Russians, who seem to have abandoned any concerns of self-preservation by wandering about, particularly, in the early hours of the morning in deserted areas; accidents just waiting to happen. Whatever the outcome of this case, it is certain that the Powers that Be will have to make a concerted long-term effort to radically reduce the crime rate in Pattaya, especially as it applies to foreigners who seem to be easy targets, else no tourists will come here; certainly not until the security of the region radically improves. http://www.pattay...0000002492 |

I brevet står blandt andet: Kære mor! |

Russian Ladies Mystery Killer of Russian Women Caught On the 2nd March, the murderer of the two young Russian women shot dead on Jomtien Beach on the 24th February has finally been caught and confessed. This curious case has caused a number of twists and turns that has even come under the scrutiny of the international press as to what happened and who shot the women. There are still many unanswered questions especially regarding the motive and a possible accomplice and at the time of Pattaya People going to print, the police are still searching for the gun. To recap: on the 24th of February at 6.00am Dongtan Police were called to the scene of a double murder on Jomtien Beach opposite Soi 18. Police rushed to the scene along with Rescue Volunteers and found two brutally slain Russian lady tourists named Miss Liubov Svirkova aged 25 and Miss Tatiana Tsimfer aged 30, slumped on two beach chairs. They had been ruthlessly shot dead by someone using a 9mm gun. Police found a mobile phone, a bottle of whisky, a pack of cigarettes and a bag containing clothes and passports belonging to the women, all untouched on the table in front of the bodies. Police discovered foot prints in the sand around the beach chairs which may have come from the assailant’s combat boots; they also found four bullet shells. A security guard of the Anantaya Hotel, Jomtien, Khun Somsak Noonoi, told Police that at 3.00 am he was on duty and noticed the two women leaving the Dragon Beach Resort only 500 meters away from the murder scene. The ladies apparently liked to go swimming and then watch the dawn arrive whilst having a drink on the beach. At approximately 5.00am he heard a gun shot and bravely headed towards the area of the blast. Whilst running to the scene he heard three more shots fired. He spotted a man who was walking calmly from the scene and simply jumped on a motorbike and drove towards the Chaiyapruek Police box on Jomtien Beach Road. The two holiday makers arrived in Pattaya on the 16th of February on a Package Tour along with fifty fellow Russians tourists and they were due to fly back to Russia on the 3rd March. On the night of the murder the women enjoyed a night out in Walking Street and returned to their hotel. They left the hotel early in the morning to sit and relax and watch the dawn arrive. A tour guide of the tour company told Police that after picking them up at the airport, the two women wanted privacy and did not want to join their fellow Russian Tourists. On the 25th of February, Police Lieutenant General Assawin Kwanmaung, Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 2 met with Mr. Vladimere Provin, Head of the Russian Consulate in Thailand to investigate the calculated murder of the two unfortunate women in Jomtien. At the meeting, footage from a local security camera located near the scene of the murder was shown and carefully analysed. Police Lieutenant General Assawin revealed that footage shows the suspect to be a tall man around 185 cm (6 foot). On the 27th February, Police Lieutenant General Assawin held a Press conference to announce any progress in the case. He said that all the available evidence had been collected, but the offender could not be identified. To assist the investigations Khun Sommart Srimajan, Champion of Motorbike Fan Club (Fan Pan Tae TV Show), was invited to try and identify the motorbike on the security camera tape, he advised the police that it appeared to be a Honda Wave. On the 27th of February at City Hall, a number of motorbike taxi riders in and around Pattaya met the Superintendent of Pattaya Police Station Police Colonel Sutin Suppaung and Deputy Mayor Ronnakit Aegasing, regarding the murders. Police gave a description of the offender to all the riders and advised any rider that provided taxi services to the two Russian ladies before or on the day of the murder to come forward as they could provide important information for this investigation. They were advised to speak with the Police at Pattaya Police Station and names would be kept secret. The male tour guide was even under investigation. The guide, who disappeared after the murders, had reportedly taken the two women to visit bars and nightclubs every night. As nothing was taken from the women, police ruled out robbery as a possible motive for the killings. It is deemed unlikely that the two Russians were involved in prostitution or other criminal activities in Pattaya. It is also believed, with information received from an anonymous phone call that the suspect could be a Russian man who may still be living on Koh Larn. Further investigations are required to clarify if this person was involved in the murder. Police acknowledged finding a set of shoe prints in the sand belonging to the Timberland brand. They also confirmed that before the shooting, a person who wore a green motorbike taxi waistcoat was seen parking a red and black motorbike near the scene of the crime. Police now confirm they have interviewed two eye witnesses to the murders. They have given a description of the assailant and have created a photo fit image which was circulated with a reward in an attempt to apprehend the killer. On 1st March in the temporary command centre in the Anantaya Resort, which is located opposite the crime scene, reporters got further details of this mysterious case. From the evidence, Police Lieutenant General Assawin stated that he believes that this case has nothing to do with prostitution. He also believes that the gunman is not a foreigner “he must be definitely a Thai man – I am 100 percent sure about this and I am sure that he is still hiding in Pattaya and didn’t leave the city. As for the cause of the murder, I see it is important to keep it confidential for now because it might make his capture harder than how it’s supposed to be”. Pattaya Police and City Hall have now increased the reward to anybody providing information leading to the arrest of the assailant to 500,000 baht. Then another twist, as on 1st of March a man who has similar looks to the sketch of the murderer went to see the officials investigating the murder case at the command centre to explain that he had nothing to do with the case. At first the sketch came from the unclear surveillance camera recorded from the crime scene. The images were blurred so the police had to take it to the laboratory. There they got a 30 percent clearer image from the high technology they used. They then tried to match it with pictures of people who have records at the police station. Somehow, that sketch matched one man: Mr. Kritsana Duangphiboon, aged 21, so that made him a prime suspect. Mr. Kritsana had a record at the police station for careless driving. Mr. Kritsana told reporters that he was surprised when he saw his face as the murderer’s sketch all around Thailand through the news as: ‘Wanted for 500,000 Baht’. He stated that he has never committed any serious crime in his life. When he saw himself wanted for such a high sum of cash, he discussed the matter with his mother and she took him to talk to the police and let them investigate to prove his innocence to the public. After 3 hours of intense investigating, the police stated that they found no evidence that Mr. Kritsana is the murderer so they had to let him go. However, Mr. Kritsana also gave some very helpful information to the police that might have something to do with this case. From Mr. Kritsana’s statement, it led the police team to another suspect. At approximately 3.00 pm on 1st March, the police went to inspect Soi Wat Tham 4 Temple, where surprisingly they found the red-black Honda Wave motorbike that they were looking for. Miss Nonglak Sudta, aged 21, a staff worker of Hollywood discotheque, South Pattaya, was in possession of the motorbike. She told the police that this motorbike belongs to her boyfriend, Anuchit Lamlert, aged 24, and he left it with her but never contacted her since that day. Miss Nonglak was invited to the temporary command centre in Anantaya Resort straight away where she stated that she had been with Anuchit for about 2 months but never knew that Anuchit is a member of a “snatch and grab gang” because he never told her anything personal about himself. As for his behavior; he usually went out at night with his friends. She only knows that he usually stays around Khao Mai Kaew area. After getting all this information, the police quickly set a team of officers to inspect Khao Mai Kaew area to find Anuchit. This investigation took all day and night until the 2nd of March when Anuchit was finally arrested and questioned until he confessed that he was the person who killed the Russian women with the motive of wanting to rob them. However, the police still don’t believe Anuchit’s statement and are still investigating further. Later the police questioned about the gun that was used for the killing. At first Anuchit stated that after he shot the ladies, he fled in the Chaiyapruek’s direction and as he passed Ban Suan Lalana village, he threw the gun into the bushes. Soon after the police team searched the bushes with difficulty but didn’t succeed in finding the gun. They then questioned Anuchit again. This pushed him to tell the police that after he shot the women, he sold the gun to a friend. Therefore, the police went to the ‘friend’ to seize the gun as evidence. Fortunately, they found the gun in question and now it needs to be inspected carefully to see if it matches the bullet wounds or not. At the moment the police still don’t believe all of Anuchit’s statements and are trying hard to investigate the truth behind this positively mysterious case. The police want to make sure that Anuchit wasn’t set-up and the police want the true killer. The police told reporters that they would need 2 days more to investigate until the case is cleared with evidence and a Press conference should be held on Saturday the 3rd of March. President of Pattaya Tourism and Hotel Association, Khun Thanet Supornsahas-rungsi, said after this terrible event, many Russian tourists have left the Kingdom early out of fear of their safety. Furthermore, a large number of reservations from Russian tourist groups have been cancelled.
