"The PAD maintained that if Section 190 was changed, it would give a free hand to the government to resume the pending Joint Boundary Committee meetings whose agenda would be ''re-prioritised'' with the Preah Vihear temple at the top of the list.
The alliance said if parliament went along with the government's pursuit of the constitutional amendment, the PAD would not hesitate to flex its muscles. By flexing its muscles, it said it meant gathering a popular force to demand a change in government. It said it had been instrumental in the ouster of former prime ministers Thaksin Shinawatra, Samak Sundaravej and Somchai Wongsawat. The PAD threatened to do the same with the current government if it went ahead with charter change.
Maj Gen Chamlong described the PAD as a ''professional remover'' of governments. ''We have chased away three prime ministers. Driving out another one won't be so hard,'' said the man who 18 years ago engineered a popular uprising that toppled the Suchinda Kraprayoon government."
