HEjsa Endnu en rystende historie fra thailand desværre Steve Miller, a soft-spoken 39-year-old New Zealander and five-year resident of Pattaya, was shot and killed in broad daylight 10 days ago as he drove his motorbike on a quiet street in North Pattaya. What initially appeared to be just another random killing of a farang-so common in Pattaya-has, however, developed into a crime story that police might not have fully investigated if the victim's friends and family had not hounded the boys in brown. The real story began six months ago... By the standards of most men, Jen-a 30-year-old gogo dancer-wasn't much to look at as she gyrated around the chrome pole. But like most things in Thailand, she was beautiful in the eyes of Steve Miller. Steve loved this country and was genuinely grateful to be living here. So the Kiwi bar-fined the dancer for the night and, eventually, bought her out entirely, moving her into his Pattaya apartment. He provided well for her and her family over the last six months, treated her like a princess, showered her with gifts, and remained faithful despite the temptations Pattaya offers all foreigners-even more so a handsome, mild-mannered young hunk with a constant smile. Several months later, the expat was preparing to help purchase a house for his live-in girlfriend beginning by making a down-payment on the house. He had sold some property for two million baht and deposited 500,000 baht of that into Jen's bank account so that she could qualify for a home loan. When the loan was approved earlier this month, she agreed to return the 500,000 baht, but said she must first go to Udon Thani to vote in the national election. She returned to Pattaya for a brief stay, only to return to Udon almost immediately to visit her family for Songkran. She insisted on driving home in the couple's new car, leaving Steve no option but to tool around Pattaya on his motorbike. A week-ago Thursday, she left Udon en route to Pattaya with the understanding she would return Steve's money the following day. That same morning, as Steve drove his motorbike from Big C toward Third Road, a passenger on a second motorbike produced a pistol, took aim, and shot Steve dead. Jen was notified of Steve's murder when she arrived in Pattaya. Being a dutiful if inconsiderate girlfriend, she immediately placed a call to Steve's parents in New Zealand, shouting into the phone, "Steve dead. Come to Pattaya." She repeated her terse statement, then hung up. The family was understandably mortified and bewildered. They learned more only when Steve's friends called to inform the family of details surrounding his death. Those same friends were able to piece together the financial dealings between Steve and Jen, and dug up other information as well-learning that Jen had two Thai boyfriends even while she was living with Steve. Her roommate revealed that she never loved Steve but was hardcore and a skillful manipulator, even in past relationships. Friends immediately suspected the Isaan woman's role in the murder. They gathered what evidence they could and presented their case to the police. Jen was arrested, interrogated, and ultimately confessed to having hired a hit-man to kill Steve. Since then, the motorbike driver has been arrested, but the identified gunman has avoided capture. At a televised news briefing-where police allowed no questions, Jen attempted to justify her crime, claiming that Steve beat her, forced her to participate in drug dealings, and stole property from her. Police encouraged her story yet produced no supporting evidence that the health-conscious body-builder was into drugs or dealing (his friends insist he was not, nor had he ever been known to strike anyone). Furthermore, the police denied any knowledge of the accused girl having 500,000 baht in a bank, or that Steve lent her the funds. However, friends presented financial records substantiating the transfer of the money from Steve's account to Jen's. When family members arrived here from New Zealand, they were denied access to Steve's apartment. Police explained they needed to take inventory of his possessions first. The family was finally allowed into Steve's home this past Sunday, but found the place devoid of all valuables. According to the apartment manager, the previous day police had brought Jen to the apartment to collect her belongings; she took everything-including her savings passbook. While the case now has been solved and two of the three suspects have been arrested, the question of justice remains unanswered. The glorious triumphs of police in arresting those involved in crimes generally are well promoted by police and the press; subsequently, little is reported on the fate of such criminals. most. The family has hired an attorney to help ensure justice and return of the 500,000 baht, and friends-at their peril-promise to hound the police until all questions are answered and the killers prosecuted. While they are aware of the inherent dangers to themselves in accusing the boys in brown of misdeeds, they also know the influence that can be purchased for 500,000 baht. More importantly, they know how little value was placed on the life of a young, serene man from New Zealand |

lyder descære som om har er blevet tøret godt og grundigt af kvinden og endda har mistet livet...det er utroligt hvad penge betyder for dem og hvor lidt et LIV er vær... solmand Thailand er et godt sted at tag til.og de har dejlige søde kvinder men næsten umulige at få herop pga vores defekte lovgivning.............

Der er jo brådne kar overalt - det er selvfølgelig dybt tragisk når sådan nogle ting sker, men jeg tror desværre i mange tilfælde at det er det gamle ordsprog "kærlighed gør blind" som gør sig gældende. Mange forelsker sig hovedkuls i både landet, kulturen og en pige - og uden at have en fuldstændig viden foretager de sig noget uovervejet og hovedkuls. Det er rystende at det kan ske og man kan undres over hvad folk vil gøre for penge - men igen bliver folk jo rask væk likvideret overalt hvor der er kriminalitet også i Danmark. Hvis man ser på hvor mange udlændinge der hvert år valfarter til Thailand, er det heldigvis en lille procentdel der ender sådan. Men når man engang i mellem har set hvor tåbeligt nogen turister bærer sig ad i en brandert og smider om sig med penge osv. undrer det mig at de slipper heldigt fra det. |

It appears that the recent case of murder involving the shooting of a New Zealand national has now come to its conclusion. Police Lieutenant General Jongrak, the Region 2 Commander of Police conducted this press conference and announced that the shooter had been located and his accomplice had been arrested along with one of Mr Millers' wives, Khun Gintana, who had been charged with conspiracy to murder. Also in attendance at this press conference were members of Mr. Miller’s family from New Zealand including his wife, Mrs. Miller. A presentation of flowers to the General demonstrated their appreciation that the case had been solved in a speedy and professional manner. The two men accused of conspiring to murder Mr. Miller are Khun Walatit aged 24 who is already in custody and Khun Yiamwoot aged 25 who is accused of shooting Mr. Miller. He is now thought to be in Sonkla Province in the South of Thailand and a warrant has already been issued for his arrest which is expected to take place soon He is also the boyfriend of Khun Gintana who although claimed to be married to Mr. Miller, we can confirm that they never signed a marriage certificate. She was involved in an illegal steroid export business where the body enhancing drugs would be sold to other countries and the money would be sent to Khun Gintana’s Thai bank account. Mr. Miller confronted her just before the murder and a physical altercation took place as he demanded she hand over the money from the steroid sales. Khun Gintana and her Thai boyfriend had formulated a plan to kill him and keep the money. Although the plan was successful Khun Gintana is now in custody and her boyfriend’s arrest is imminent. A fascinating conclusion to a horrific murder case. så måske skal man ikke have alt for ondt at ham  |

her er for historien som selvfølgelig også skal med Important update on the recent murder of a New Zealand National in Pattaya. An important update now on the story we covered earlier this week regarding the apparent murder of Mr. Stephen Jeffrey Miller aged 40 from New Zealand. He was shot dead as he was riding his motorbike along Soi Petragoon in North Pattaya. The Police investigation into this high profile murder is now being overseen by the regions top Police Officer, Police Lieutenant General Jongrak who is the Police Commander for Region 2. Inside Pattaya Police Station he chaired a meeting which was also attended by representatives from the New Zealand Embassy in Bangkok. In attendance were two of Mr. Miller’s wives, Khun Gintana and Khun Ann who are both assisting Police with their enquiries. It appears that Mr. Miller had four Thai wives. Three of the wives are now known to Police, Khun Gintana and Khun Ann who were at this meeting, Khun Mai, who did not attend and a fourth wife who has currently not been identified. Initial information suggested that Mr. Miller was involved in a court case regarding land and property ownership with Khun Ann. At the meeting she confirmed this to be untrue and Police now tell us that the case relates to a fourth wife who is now being located. The Embassy revealed that Mr. Miller had a previous conviction for illegally taking steroids into New Zealand, but this case had already been cleared. The Police General mentioned that some information cannot be released to the press at this time because it is an ongoing investigation, however they do know the shooter and his accomplice and an arrest is expected to take place shortly. Regarding possible motives for the shooting, Police have three theories which form the basis of their investigation. 1. The murder may be related to the steroid case in New Zealand. 2. It may be business related as Mr. Miller was active in the local property market. 3. It could relate to an ongoing court case with his 4th, as yet unidentified, wife That’s all we have for now.
