http://www.pattay...s-charges/ A New Zealand national has been arrested in Pattaya for impersonating a SWAT police officer and carrying live automatic firearms in public. Upon his arrest he was in possession of a large cache of automatic weapons and ammunition. Pattaya, the 18th of February 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 6:00pm on Thursday Police Colonel Atisawit Kamonrat (Chon-Buri Immigration Superintendant) and a team of police swooped on the Yellow Hummer belonging to New Zealand national Mr. Robert Malcolm McInnes [47]. The police taskforce were acting on a tip-off that Mr. McInnes and associates had been parading around Pattaya and the surrounding area dressed in full SWAT police gear armed with automatic weapons and equipment. Arriving at the View Talay Condominium 3 building on Pratamnak Road, Soi 6, police discovered the Yellow Hummer of Mr. McInnes. The vehicle was fitted with police sirens, SWAT police and the Thai National Police Bureau logos on the sides. A search revealed the presence of several automatic weapons with a massive amount of live ammunition also discovered. Police subsequently approached Mr. McInnes who was at the condominium complex, where he explained that he had been contracted by the Pattaya police and was a long-time trainer of their officers. Mr. McInnes produced various forms of identification including one that stated he was a SWAT Officer with the Police Counter Terrorist Unit, signed by Police Colonel Noppadol Wongnorm, Pattaya Police Superintendent at the time of the cards alleged issue. Mr. McInnes also produced a current passport which had a conflicting DOB to that of the Police ID card. Police Colonel Atisawit revealed that the taskforce was assemble acting on reports that Mr. McInnes and his associates had been impersonating police and carrying automatic weapons in public without a permit on several occasions. Despite the identification produced by Mr. McInnes, police have arrested him and confiscated the Hummer and all its contents whilst an investigation continues to find out weather Mr. McInnes genuinely has the right to carry or possess weapons in Thailand. Note: Mr. McInnes is a well-known personality in the Pattaya region, we understand that he owns various businesses and in Pattaya and has been living in Thailand for many years. He is also allegedly involved in many community projects, mainly in cooperation with the local police department. Having personally examined the various forms of identification that Mr. McInnes produced it is interesting to note that his passport states him to be born on the 1st of February 1963, making him 47 years-old, however: the other form of ID that he produced, Police Counter Terrorist Unit, states that his date of birth is the Thai Buddhist year 2496 which is 1953, making him only 57 years-old. His website http://www.maotw....edorr.html also states him as being born in 1953 and claims him to be a combat trainer with the Royal Thai Military Police. Given this information to ponder, does this mean his Passport (Issued in Wellington) is fake or that the police ID is fake and a misrepresentation of his real age? One would hope that Mr. McInnes, being such a high profile personality, would not need to either hold a fake passport or deceive people as to his real age.
